My 8 month old grand daughter "Peanut" has been diagnosed with Congenital scoliosis, Hemivertebrae and Thoracic insufficiency syndrome. We are looking for a specialist in TIS, however we live in Illinois and Peanut is on a medical card that will not let us travel to Philly to see Dr. Campbell. Can anyone help us or give us some advice on how/where to get her treatment?

Motts in Ann Arbor is fantastic with the VEPTR!! That is where my daughter is treated and I went to 3 other hospitals including Boston who is ranked #1 and they are the ones who referred me there. It was the best decision we made for her to be treated there. I don't know where you live in IL but if it near the Chicago area it is not that bad of a drive. It never hurts to call There social work dept and see if they take it or what other options you have. Hope this helps

Have you tried to contact the Shriners hospital in Chicago? They do the veptr surgery there. The treatment at Shriners is free
